Workers in Public Sector earn more than those in Private Sector

According to new research from ONS workers in the public sector enjoy higher levels of total reward than those in the private sector.  In 2009 median gross pay for full time workers in the public sector was £539 versus £465 for private sector workers.  When employers pension contributions were added in the median was raised to £615 and £479 respectively.

When the imbalance in pension provision was removed the private sector median was slightly higher at £666 against £644 for the public sector.  People Management
